El Golfo was formed during the 1730 - 1736 volcanic
eruptions. It takes about 15 minutes to drive from Puerto
Chico 'A', passing the Salinas de Janubi saltpans on the
way, to reach El Golfo.
There is a rough pathway to reach this viewing point and
therefore it is advisable to take good footwear for your
visit. Sandals are not recommended.
The natural black beach sparkles with semi precious stone
deposits locally known as Olivinas. There is a gift shop
near to the car-park where you can buy samples.
The vivid green colour is formed from the algae which
thrives in the mineralised water.
